Synopsis
Cancer genetics studies must enroll large enough numbers and diverse enough groups of individuals with such increased risks to lead to scientific findings that can be translated into clinical prevention and treatment protocols. Such sample sizes and translational genetics research studies are the goal of the Cancer Genetics Network (CGN). 4 minority recruitment pilot studies are currently underway. These studies are testing different recruitment methods in hopes of finding successful strategies for increasing minority recruitment into the CGN.
